I’d like to welcome Handgun Hourly to GunBlogs.org.

Handgun Hourly offers opinions and views on handgun ownership in America.

Jay goes on to explain:

“The reason for the title of the blog is simple enough. Every hour, of every day, a handgun is being utilized lawfully to protect our nation. The blog title also reminds us of our collective struggle to keep handgun ownership a right as guaranteed by the founders.”

Take a minute and check out this fine blog.

Fort Hood Official Report Does Not Mention “Islam”

Posted on January 20th .

This week, the U.S. Military released its 86-page report:  “Protecting the Force, Lessons Learned from Fort Hood,”  an independent review by the Department of Defense.

The report is suppose to cover of the causes behind the November 5, 2009 massacre by Islamic terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan.   Thirteen were murdered, (plus one unborn child),  and another 43 were injured.

I’ve included the report here at Libertyaholic.

In it, you will NOT find any reference to Islam, Islamic terrorism, al Qaeda, or any of the motives that drove Hasan.

I don’t know about you, but our mighty Government is putting its head in the sand.  I am speechless.

The Human Cost of “Gun Control”

Why must all decent non-violent people fight against “gun control”? Why is the right to keep and bear arms truly a fundamental individual right?   You can find the answers in this new book.

The message is simple: Disarmed people are neither free nor safe – they become the criminals’ prey and the tyrants’ playthings. When the civilians are defenseless and their government goes bad, however, thousands and millions of innocents die.

Professor R.J. Rummel, author of the monumental book Death by Government, said: “Concentrated political power is the most dangerous thing on earth.” For power to concentrate and become dangerous, the citizens must be disarmed.

What disarms the citizens? The idea of “gun control.” It’s the idea that only the government has the right to possess firearms, and that citizens have no unalienable right to use force to defend against aggression.

Death by Gun Control carefully examines the “gun control” idea: its meaning, its purposes, its effects. It comes in many forms, but in every form it enables the evildoers and works against righteous defense.

description: This is derived from the JPFO website page. It works on a level that nobody can dispute: documented world history. Here's the Formula: Hatred + Government + Disarmed Civilians = Genocide What makes the argument so powerful? Two factors. First, it makes common sense: unarmed defenseless people have no hope against armed aggressors. Second, it states the historical truth: evil governments did wipe out 170,000,000 innocent non-military lives in the 20th Century alone. When the gun prohibitionists quote a statistic about how many people are killed by firearms misuse, the discussion sometimes bogs down into whose crime statistics to believe and how to count crimes vs. the defensive firearm uses. In the 20th Century: • Governments murdered four times as many civilians as were killed in all the international and domestic wars combined. • Governments murdered millions more people than were killed by common criminals. How could governments kill so many people? The governments had the power - and the people, the victims, were unable to resist. The victims were unarmed.

Progressives Go After Rahm Emanuel

Posted on January 19th .

What a surprise!  (ahem.)  Who would have imagined that Liberal Agenda Elites like Rahm Emanuel would be turned on by his own “party”?  (cough.)

CNN reports that a  liberal group is stepping up its offensive against White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, urging its members to sign a pledge claiming they will not to support the former Illinois congressman if he ever runs for public office again.

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee launched a television ad in December questioning Emanuel’s handling of the health care issue.

The problem with these “change” and “progressive” groups is that they have no real buttress for their political or philosophical arguments.  Their anchor is based on an old tired and beaten political belief (Progressivism) that was adopted by Mussolini and Hitler.  (Progressives, don’t howl at me, check your history yourself.)

CNN went on to report:  “On Monday, the PCCC initiated a pledge campaign in response to a January 12 New York Times article that detailed how Emanuel met with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and helped broker the decision to abandon a public option in order to garner the support of Independent Sen. Joseph Lieberman. The Connecticut senator had just gone on a Sunday morning talk show to announce he would not vote for the Democrat’s health care bill, and thus, could not be counted as Reid’s 60th vote. The PCCC said Emanuel “undermine[d] progressives behind the scenes.”

“There’s nobody in Washington, D.C. who caves at the slightest hint of a fight with corporate interests more than Rahm Emanuel,” PCCC co-founder Adam Green said in a statement. “We’re making clear to Rahm that when he undermines progressives and the overwhelming will of the American people on issues like the public option, he will pay a political price back home.”

“Overwhelming will of the American people?”  Thanks for the belly-laugh!  Where did you get those stats?  From the ladies on “The View?“  Or maybe you forgot to poll all of those pesky “fly-over states.

Yawn.

Show me ONE MEMBER of this “Progressive Change Campaign Committee” that can defend any of the controversial provisions in the current Health Care Bill. If this is what Progressivism stands for, the majority of the citizenry will have nothing to do with it.  You lose.  Get off my lawn.

The Massachusetts Miracle

Posted on January 19th .

Author’s Note:  On January 19, 2010, a special election will be held in Massachusetts to select a new US Senator. Mainstream media pundits would have you believe Democrat Maratha Coakley is the undisputed leader in the race. But the so-called ‘experts’ may be in for a bit of a surprise.

Freedom-loving Americans from across our nation are rising-up to support Republican candidate Scott Brown. In the days leading up to the election, Brown has advanced such that some polls now actually show him within the margin of error.

Brown would provide the critical 41st vote in the Senate to break the Democrat’s filibuster-proof majority and stop the unprecedented assault on our personal liberties that is now taking place in Congress.

Scott Brown has pledged to vote against the government takeover of our health care system and is also opposed to cap-and-trade.

Martha Coakley, on the other hand, supports Obama’s socialistic agenda.

The political elite should not underestimate the resilience of the American people to defend their liberty from a tyrannical government.

Overview:

This manual is based entirely on the keyword SURVIVAL. The letters in this word can help guide you in your actions in any survival situation. Whenever faced with a survival situation, remember the word SURVIVAL.

SURVIVAL ACTIONS
The following paragraphs expand on the meaning of each letter of the word survival. Study and remember what each letter signifies because you may some day have to make it work for you.

S -Size Up the Situation
If you are in a combat situation, find a place where you can conceal yourself from the enemy. Remember, security takes priority. Use your senses of hearing, smell, and sight to get a feel for the battlefield. What is the enemy doing? Advancing? Holding in place?  Retreating? You will have to consider what is developing on the battlefield when you make your survival plan.

Size Up Your Surroundings
Determine the pattern of the area. Get a feel for what is going on around you. Every environment, whether forest, jungle, or desert, has a rhythm or pattern. This rhythm or pattern includes animal and bird noises and movements and insect sounds. It may also include enemy traffic and civilian movements.
Size Up Your Physical Condition
The pressure of the battle you were in or the trauma of being in a survival situation may have caused you to overlook wounds you received. Check your wounds and give yourself first aid. Take care to prevent further bodily harm. For instance, in any climate, drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. If you are in a cold or wet climate, put on additional clothing to prevent hypothermia.
Size Up Your Equipment
Perhaps in the heat of battle, you lost or damaged some of your equipment. Check to see what equipment you have and what condition it is in.  Now that you have sized up your situation, surroundings, physical condition, and equipment, you are ready to make your survival plan. In doing so, keep in mind your basic
physical needs–water, food, and shelter.

U -Use All Your Senses, Undue Haste Makes Waste
You may make a wrong move when you react quickly without thinking or planning. That move may result in your capture or death. Don’t move just for the sake of taking action.

Consider all aspects of your situation (size up your situation) before you make a decision and a move. If you act in haste, you may forget or lose some of your equipment. In your haste you may also become disoriented so that you don’t know which way to go. Plan your moves. Be ready to move out quickly without endangering yourself if the enemy is near you. Use all your senses to evaluate the situation. Note sounds and smells. Be sensitive to temperature changes. Be observant.

R -Remember Where You Are
Spot your location on your map and relate it to the surrounding terrain. This is a basic principle that you must always follow. If there are other persons with you, make sure theyalso know their location. Always know who in your group, vehicle, or aircraft has a map and compass. If that person is killed, you will have to get the map and compass from him. Pay close attention to where you are and to where you are going. Do not rely on others in the group to keep track of the route. Constantly orient yourself. Always try to determine, as a minimum, how your location relates to–· The location of enemy units and controlled areas.
· The location of friendly units and controlled areas.
· The location of local water sources (especially important in the desert).
· Areas that will provide good cover and concealment.
This information will allow you to make intelligent decisions when you are in a survival and evasion situation.

V -Vanquish Fear and Panic
The greatest enemies in a combat survival and evasion situation are fear and panic. If uncontrolled, they can destroy your ability to make an intelligent decision. They may cause you to react to your feelings and imagination rather than to your situation. They can drain your energy and thereby cause other negative emotions. Previous survival and evasion training and self-confidence will enable you to vanquish fear and panic.

I -Improvise
In the United States, we have items available for all our needs. Many of these items are cheap to replace when damaged. Our easy come, easy go, easy-to-replace culture makes it unnecessary for us to improvise. This inexperience in improvisation can be an enemy in a survival situation. Learn to improvise. Take a tool designed for a specific purpose and see how many other uses you can make of it.  Learn to use natural objects around you for different needs. An example is using a rock for a hammer. No matter how complete a survival kit you have with you, it will run out or wear out after a while. Your imagination must take over when your kit wears out.

V -Value Living
All of us were born kicking and fighting to live, but we have become used to the soft life. We have become creatures of comfort. We dislike inconveniences and discomforts. What happens when we are faced with a survival situation with its stresses, inconveniences, and discomforts? This is when the will to live- placing a high value on living-is vital. The experience and knowledge you have gained through life and your Army training will have a bearing on your will to live. Stubbornness, a refusal to give in to problems and obstacles
that face you, will give you the mental and physical strength to endure.

A -Act Like the Natives
The natives and animals of a region have adapted to their environment. To get a feel of the area, watch how the people go about their daily routine. When and what do they eat? When, where, and how do they get their food? When and where do they go for water? What time do they usually go to bed and get up? These actions are important to you when you are trying to avoid capture.

Animal life in the area can also give you clues on how to survive. Animals also require food, water, and shelter. By watching them, you can find sources of water and food.
WARNING
Animals cannot serve as an absolute guide to what you can eat and drink. Many animals eat plants that are toxic to humans. Keep in mind that the reaction of animals can reveal your presence to the enemy.
If in a friendly area, one way you can gain rapport with the natives is to show interest in their tools and how they get food and water. By studying the people, you learn to respect them, you often make valuable friends, and, most important, you learn how to adapt to their environment and increase your chances of survival.

L -Live by Your Wits, But for Now, Learn Basic Skills
Without training in basic skills for surviving and evading on the battlefield, your chances of living through a combat survival and evasion situation are slight.  Learn these basic skills now–not when you are headed for or are in the battle. How you decide to equip yourself before deployment will impact on whether or not you survive. You need to know about the environment to which you are going, and you must practice basic skills geared to that environment. For instance, if you are going to a desert, you need to know how to get water in the desert.
Practice basic survival skills during all training programs and exercises. Survival training reduces fear of the unknown and gives you self-confidence. It teaches you to live by your wits.

Does It Take A Panel of Financial Experts?

Posted on January 14th .

CNBC reports that a panel of experts have stated that:

“The United States must soon raise taxes or cut government spending to curb its debt, and failure to act will risk a crippling dollar crisis as investor confidence ebbs.”

Is this suppose to be a timely article?

Some of us have been concerned about this since the Bush years.  A majority of us have been very concerned about this since early 2007.

“The two-year study by the panel, assembled by the highly respected National Research Council and the National Academy of Public Administration, said that the White House had some time on its side to restore growth, but must then act.”

It took them two years?  That makes me feel warm and fuzzy.  Time on our hands?  Let me go get my Magic 8 Ball.

“In the next year or two, large deficits and more borrowing are unavoidable given the severity of the economic downturn. However, action ought to begin soon thereafter,” they said.

Really?  So, the trillions spent / distributed to the banks so far are still not working? Just keep doing the same thing for the next year or two?

“Mounting debt could sap investor confidence in the economy, and the nation’s ability to honor its obligations, pushing up interest rates and causing a steep fall in the value of the dollar as international creditors seek safer returns elsewhere.”

Does it really take a panel of experts to figure this out?  I don’t think so.  Since my 3 year old grandson is not here with me, let me consult my Magic 8 Ball to see what it says:

Great.

Remember flight 77?  It was the plane that allegedly flew into the Pentagon.  It was also the plane that had the story of the hijackers storming the cockpit and herding the pilots to the back of the plane.

New data released this week show that the plane’s black box indicated that the cockpit door never opened during the entire 90 minute flight.

What, Pelosi Worry?

Posted on January 12th .

In the midst of our Great Recession, Nancy Pelosi sports a shiny new jet!  Queen Pelosi wasn’t happy with her old jet.  It was a  USAF C-20B jet, Gulfstream III.  I’d say:  “Nice!”  But Speaker of the House Pelosi couldn’t stand the fact that she had to stop and refuel on her very frequent jaunts across her “fly-over states.”

What is a Speaker to do?  The Pelosi Grand Answer was to order a brand new  200-seat, USAF C-32, Boeing 757.  To that I say:  “Excess!”

So, back and forth she goes, flying between California and the Capitol.  Cost?  About $60,000 one way.  Every week she flies out on Monday and returns on Friday.  (At the minimum.)  Estimates are that her “travel” costs taxpayers about $480,000 per month.

Tax my 401K, Madam Pelosi?  I don’t think you have a moral leg to stand on.

Carbon Traders Charged in Fraud Case

Posted on January 12th .

Who would have guessed?  Oh!  You mean “carbon trading” is fraudulent on more than it’s base level?

You better believe it.  It’s just that this time, carbon trading ran afoul of European tax laws.  You know, kind of like taking out a contract to kill someone and then having the assassin fail to pay taxes on his work.

The story goes something like this:

Three Britons and a Dutchman have been charged by Belgian authorities with money laundering in an investigation into fraudulent trading in carbon emissions permits.

The fraud occurs when carbon credits are bought and imported tax-free from other EU countries, then sold to domestic buyers, charging them value-added tax (VAT). The sellers then disappear without paying the tax to governments.

The three Britons were arrested at the end of 2009 in the Belgian town of Tournai as part of an investigation into transactions worth some 3 million euros ($NZ5.8 million).

A fourth suspect from the Netherlands was arrested on Sunday. Prosecutors would not disclose the names of those arrested.

It’s pretty obvious that the “governments” are keen on getting their share of the carbon trading scam.

Still not sure about Carbon Credits?  Do a little research on Ken Lay and Enron.

Stoned and Broke in Sunny California

The first step to legalize marijuana in California could happen Tuesday.

Lawmakers will vote on Assembly Bill 390 — legislation to tax and regulate marijuana. The assembly’s Public Safety Committee is expected to vote after a hearing that begins at 9 a.m. hearing in Sacramento.

The bill, authored by San Francisco Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, would essentially treat pot the same way alcohol is treated under the law and would allow adults over 21 to possess, smoke and grow marijuana.

1.  The law would also call for a fee of $50 per ounce sold and would help fund drug eradication and awareness programs.

2.  It could help pull California out of debt, supporters say, raising up to $990 million from the fees.

Really?  So…what is it.  Is the program to fund (how ironic) “drug eradication and awareness programs” or is it to make $$ to help deflate the state’s deficit?

Feel-good double-talk.  California politicians are so good at it.  (not.)

Iranianian Mamas: Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Nuclear Scientists

Posted on January 12th .

Now is probably not a good time to be working on “Nuclear Projects” in Iran.  You see,  Iran’s top nuclear scientist Massoud Ali-Mohammadi was killed outside his home on his way to work.

Massoud Ali-Mohammadi, 50, was a respected Tehran University nuclear physicist.  Iranian officials immediately blamed Israel and the West for the assassination.  (Probably not so far fetched, I’d say.)  But then again, Ali-Mohammadi may have been an unwitting participant in an Iranian false flag operation since he was known for his outspoken support for the current student movement.  He was a vocal opponent to the Islamic Republic and openly criticized high-ranking officials.  (That’s a sure way to get yourself killed in Iran.)

In addition to this death, Iran’s top diplomat last month accused the United States and Saudi Arabia of kidnapping nuclear scientist Shahram Amiri, who worked for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization and disappeared during a summer religious pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.  (Ooops!)

A Bolivar of Broken Dreams

Posted on January 9th . 3 Comments

Hugo Chavez rolls up his pants, takes off his shoes, and runs helter skelter into the surf of failure.

In case you haven’t heard, Chavez has devalued the Venezuelan Bolivar by 50%.

It is being reported that: “Venezuelans rushed to the shops on Saturday, fearful of price rises after a currency devaluation that will let President Hugo Chavez boost government spending ahead of an election but feeds opposition charges of economic mismanagement.”

His plan devalues the currency to 4.3 and 2.6 against the dollar, from a rate of 2.15 per dollar in place since 2005, giving the better rate for basic goods in an attempt to limit the impact of the measure on consumer prices.

Hasn’t anyone told Chavez that you can’t fool:

  1. Mother Nature
  2. Market Prices

Reuters has got the whole story if you can stomach it.

What is happening in Venezuela may float north and visit our shores in the not-so-distant future – what with Obama and the Congress being so fiscally responsible. (sic)

Here We Go Again – Unexpectedly, unexpectedly

Posted on January 8th .

You may recall my previous post on how I was getting so sick and tired of our Mainstream Media and our White House Leadership feigning “surprise” over and over again about the condition of our economy.

I made a mistake.  I should have added:  Economists.

Let’s step back just one day. Yesterday’s story:

US Jobs Purge Likely Halted.

“A US government report on Friday is expected to show the economy stopped shedding jobs last month for the first time since it fell into recession two years ago, easing a political weight on President Barack Obama.

A Reuters survey of 84 economists on Thursday forecast nonfarm payrolls would be flat in December after dropping by 11,000 in November, far fewer than in previous months.”

Let’s look at the story today. Today’s story:

Employers unexpectedly cut jobs in December.

ARGH!  There’s that WORD again.

U.S. employers unexpectedly cut 85,000 jobs in December, cooling optimism on the labor market’s recovery and keeping pressure on President Barack Obama to find ways to spur job growth.

May I gently ask where these people are living?  Again, someone please give these dunces a clue, a set of glasses, some common sense, a little insight, and a full tank of gas to get their sorry butts out into the real world.  There is a whole lot of pain happening – but obviously – it’s a view that can’t be seen from the posh offices of our Universities or Government Offices.

Can Duct Tape Provide Liberty and Freedom?

Posted on January 8th .

Duct tape ranks as my top two “do everything” items.  The other item is WD-40.

So, I’m sure you are wondering how duct tape can provide liberty and freedom.  Here’s your example of the day:

A private pilot was hired to take a fisherman on a fishing excursion in the Alaskan wilderness.  Probably due to his haste and desire to get fishing, the fisherman left some of his bait inside the plane.

Being in bear country, you can imagine what happened next.

A bear smelled the bait and proceeded to destroy the plane.

The pilot used his radio and called another pilot to bring him 2 new tires, 3 cases of duct tape, and a supply of sheet plastic.

He repaired the plane and flew it home!

Freedom Success!

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) was created as part of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act passed by the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President George W. Bush on November 19, 2001.

Since 2001, have Terrorists or the TSA been responsible for more passenger deaths?

It’s an honest question.  It’s a question that I’ve been thinking about since that poor little Samoan baby died because someone at the TSA felt the entire family should be locked up for some unkown reason.

There was also that confused Polish immigrant that was tasered to death.

How many other stories are out there that have not been reported?

Now we have the specter of having to go through full body scanners which emit potent whole-body X-rays.   Some fliers will be fried several times per day. Frequent fliers will be fried and cooked hundreds of times per year.

Sure, officials downplay the “nuke chutes” as harmless – but they are signing no guarantees because it has been shown that this ionizing radiation in the X-ray spectrum damages and mutates both chromosomal DNA and structural proteins in human cells.

  • Women: Will you step through a whole body scanner with your unborn baby?

Bernanke Not Fit to Forecast

Posted on January 7th .

Calling the recent financial crisis possibly the “worst in modern history,” Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Sunday that tighter regulation and not interest rate hikes could have prevented the sharp downturn.

“Stronger regulation and supervision” of mortgage lenders “would have been a more effective and surgical approach to constraining the housing bubble than a general increase in interest rates,” said Bernanke, according to an advance copy of his speech to the American Economic Association’s annual meeting in Atlanta.

Really?

This man needs to be replaced.  Let’s look at a brief history of Ben Bernanke and his ultra-dull capabilities as Fed Chairman:

Listening to CNBC Can Be Hazardous to your Financial Health

Posted on January 7th .

CNBC was “Bubbly bubbly!” during the top of the bubble in 2007.  And, if you recall, they were Wall Street apologists in 2008 when warning signs were everywhere.  Their broadcasts continued to re-assure the mindless (their viewers) that all was well.  The few who were warning of the impeding train wreck were labeled as doomsayers and disconnected with “The Street.”
